My poor mum was caught by surprise- 88 days after her birthday 🙃 🎂
With so many people celebrating their Mum's today (and although Mother's Day in Portugal is celebrated later!) it reminded me of this sweet occasion last Summer, when I surprised my mum with a late, special birthday gift (the downsides of being an immigrant...!)

She was surprised and a little emotional - especially as one of the cats, Bully, is unfortunately not with us anymore, and Suri (the white one) is a little old and ill now... They were born in our house in Portugal so the bonds are strong ❤️ This kind of reaction is the reason I love portraying people's beloved Pets...

I realised it's been a while since I shared some updates and I'VE GOT SO MUCH TO SHARE! 🥲

Here's a little life update:

🎨 A few months ago I applied for a few sculpture trails in Scotland and got 4 designs shortlisted... 🥂 I am now proud to say two of those have been selected so I will very soon be painting TWO BIG SCULPTURES 😍 I will reveal what they are very, very, very, soon...

🎨 I said I wouldn't participate in markets this year because I wanted to focus on my original artwork and commissions, but I guess I LIED? 😅 - I decided to apply for just a couple of events (some of which I never did before) - I will be at Edinburgh Vegan Festival (16 May), at the Night Market at Biscuit Factory (5 June) and at Leith Festival (14 June). I will be bringing prints as usual but I will have lots of wee originals for you! 🐯

🎨 I applied to paint a big mural (which was a challenge because I never quoted for anything like it before!) and I unfortunately didn't get the project - but this made me realise I would love to paint a mural one day! If you know of any opportunities for one, let me know!

🎨 This is important! ⚠️ I am on the lookout for a tattoo apprenticeship! If you know of a studio or artists looking for one, please let me know! I am obsessed with the idea of learning to tattoo 🥺

🎨 On a more personal note - I'm going on HOLIBOBS (lol) next week 🇮🇹 🍝 Prepare yourself for a LOT of photos of Rome! I am sure I will bring Soooo much inspiration for my next projects!

🎨 In the middle of all this I am also still taking commissions and painting beautiful pets (a cat and a dog at the moment!)

This Fox and Pup illustration was made especially for Mother's Day a few years ago - and the process was, apparently, filmed with the highest technology at hand (a potato 🥔?!) 🫠

Of course these illustrations I created for our wedding table names had to be inspired by the wonderful world of Tolkien, of which me and my husband are huge fans - hence our cats names, Merry (in the photo, posing fabulously) and Pippin...
On the last photo you can see how the hobbit hole doors opened up to reveal the table names 🥺

Now, if you'd like one of these illustrations for yourself, I still have 3 left (in the first photo) which I printed especially to sell at markets - just send me a message, they only cost a fiver!! 🌿
